Trekking
in the Himalayas, is an altogether awesome experience that
cannot be described by words. It is unlike any other experience.
It is said that to fully appreciate nature it is essential to
become part of its silence. Trekking gives the nature admirer
such an opportunity, to feel the power and unparalleled beauty
and sanctity of the majestic Himalayas.
Further we take care of our trekkers and make sure that their
sojourn into the mountains is a memorable one. We provide a crew
of specialized staff to assist you along the way. The crew will
include at least one cook, one guide, a horsemen and horses, the
number depending on the size of the trekking group. All the
provisions and luggage are carried by the horses and porters.
However, if you are planning to go trekking in Bhutan you should
be reasonably fit and bring along some basic trekking gear such
as trekking shoes, water-proof clothes, ruck-sacks, etc.
The treks offered are graded according to their difficulty
level. You can choose the trek of your choice from the list of
trekking programme offered.
The Chelila Nature Trek is of
medium difficulty. The trek through the primula and rhododendron
trail is a very beautiful and pleasant one. The views are
spectacular.
Itinerary:
DAY 01:
ARRIVAL AT PARO
Upon arrival at Paro Airport
you will be received by our representative and transferred to hotel. Overnight
in hotel.
DAY 02: PARO
[Sightseeing]
Drive the winding road
northwest up the Pa-Chu River to Drugyel Dzong, the ruined Fort that once
defended this valley from Tibetan invasion. This fortress, now a burned shell,
was once strategic in Bhutan's defense against Tibetan invasion. On the way back
visit Satsam Monastery built in the memory of Late Dilgo Khyentse Rimpoche
(Great Master) and then visit Kyichu monastery built in 7th century. Overnight
in hotel.
DAY 03:
PARO-CHONANA
Alt.3500m. Distance-14km.
Drive 4 Km from hotel to the point where you began your trek. Most of the walk
is a gradual climb through Bhutanese farmland. The view of the Paro valley from
the trail is excellent. Overnight in camp.
DAY 04:
CHONANA-JEBKARPO
Distance 16km. A superb
trekking uphill for about 5 hours allowing a few stops. The trail takes you
through a forest filled with many species of Primula. From the trail alone the
ridge of Chelila, the Bhutanese Himalayas can be seen. Overnight in camp.
DAY 05:
JEBKARPO-CHELILA-THIMPHU
Distance-15 km. Alt, 3845m.
The early morning views from our camp of Chomolhari (Divine Mountain of Goddess)
Tserim Gang Glacier of long life) and Jichu Drake are stunning. The trail
follows the ridge with its views of the mountains. This is the only place you
can see the Ha valley, an area that is forbidden to all tourists. On the other
side of the ridge you can see the Paro valley. Continue follow the ridge and
visit the Kyili Monastery (Nunnery Monastery. Descend down to the motorable road
where the trek ends and the transport awaits you to take to Thimphu. Overnight
in hotel.
DAY 06:
THIMPHU [Sightseeing] - PARO
After breakfast witness the
cultural program of masked and folk dances and visit Traditional hospital,
National library, Memorial chorten, and late afternoon do shopping in various
handicrafts shops in Thimphu and drive to Paro. Overnight in hotel.
DAY 07:
PARO [Departure]
Early morning transfer to Paro
Airport for your onward departure flight.

TREK
DAY 01:
ARRIVAL at PARO
Arrival at Paro Airport and transfer to hotel. Evening stroll in Pero town.
Overnight in hotel.
DAY 02;
PARO [Sightseeing]
Drive to Drugyel Dzong, the ruined Fort that once defended this valley from
Tibetan invasion. This fortress. On the way back visit Satsam Monastery built in
the memory of Late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (Great Master) and then visit Kyichu
monastery built in 7th century. Overnight in hotel.
DAY 03:
PARO – CHONANA [Trekking]
After breakfast drive down to Taju, where your trek begins. The trial begins up
hill for an hour and then follow the gradual walk. You will cover about 14 Kms.
Overnight in camp at the altitude of 3500m. You can get the excellent view of
Paro valley.
DAY 04;
CHONANA – JEBKARPO [Trekking]
The trail is through the thick forests filled with variety of Primulas. A superb
trekking uphill for about 5hours will cover 16 Kms. Good views of Paro Valley
and the many surrounding mountain peaks can be seen from the ridge. Overnight in
camp.
DAY 05:
JEBKARPO – GORINA [Trekking]
Early morning take the good views of Mount. Jhomolhari, (Divine Mountain
Goddess) Tserim Gang (Glacier of Long Life), and Jichu Drake. You can also see
the views of HA valley, an area forbidden for tourists. The altitude is 3845m.
After the view walk down to one of the oldest retreat monastery, Kyili Monastery
where now holds the school for Nuns studying and meditating. After the lunch
continue the walk down the Gorina Village for the night halt.
DAY 06:
GORINA - THIMPHU
The last day of your trek is perhaps the easiest walk of your trek. After 2
hours gradual walk down hill will reach at the Olathang hotel. Stop for a light
refreshment and drive to Thimphu for the lunch. After lunch visit Traditional
hospital, National library, Memorial Chorten, and lEvening free and easy.
Overnight in hotel.
DAY 07:
THIMPHU - PARO [Departure]
Early morning drive to Paro Airport for your onward departure flight.
